SPECIALIST

THERAPISTS

We firmly believe in the importance of specialisation in the field of therapy, rejecting the notion of a “jack of all trades.” Our therapists focus solely on their specialised skill sets to provide the highest quality of care and treatment.

A PERSONALISED APPROACH

Before assigning you with one of our therapists, we conduct a thorough phone assessment to ensure compatibility and expertise. This personalised approach ensures you are paired with a highly skilled therapist who is the best fit for your unique needs. All our therapists are HCPC registered and recognised by their respective professional bodies. If we don’t have the right therapist for you, we will do our utmost to direct you to the most suitable service.

We are dedicated to providing a bespoke and personalised therapy service. All our therapists work exclusively within their specialist areas, ensuring you receive the specialised care you deserve.

WITHIN our team

We started as a team of three physiotherapists, but we quickly realised that to provide the streamlined, coordinated service we envisioned, it was essential to bring other therapy disciplines in-house.

This approach ensures optimal coordination and patient care by having a fully integrated team under one roof, rather than relying on multiple agencies.

To achieve this, we expanded our team to include a diverse range of highly skilled professionals, allowing us to offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation to our clients. In our team we have:

Physiotherapists

Our large physiotherapy team based in the community in and around London consists of physiotherapists who are experts in a variety of specialisms, ensuring that each patient receives targeted care for their specific condition. Some of our key areas of expertise include:

  • Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy – Treatment for back pain, arthritis, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery through manual therapy, exercise, and education.
  • Neurological Physiotherapy – Helping patients recover from stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions with personalised exercises for motor skills and balance.
  • Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physiotherapy – Support for conditions like COPD, asthma, and heart disease through breathing exercises and endurance training.
  • Paediatric Physiotherapy – Play-based therapy for children with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, and other mobility issues.
  • Sports Physiotherapy – Rehabilitation and performance enhancement for athletes recovering from ligament tears, muscle strains, and other sports-related injuries.
  • Physiotherapy for Older Adults – Strength training and balance exercises to address osteoporosis, arthritis, and reduce fall risks, ensuring older adults maintain independence.
  • Women’s Health Physiotherapy – Specialised care for pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy-related pain, and postnatal recovery.
  • Oncology Physiotherapy – Support for cancer patients dealing with treatment-related fatigue, lymphedema, and post-surgery recovery.
  • Orthopaedic Physiotherapy – Comprehensive rehabilitation following hip and knee replacements, fractures, and other joint surgeries.
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation – Treatment for balance disorders, vertigo, and dizziness through tailored exercises.
Occupational Therapists
Occupational therapists (OTs) work in various areas to help people regain or improve their ability to perform daily activities. There are several types of OTs, each specialising in different aspects of care:

  • Rehabilitation OT – Focuses on helping individuals recover from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses that affect mobility and physical function.
  • Mental Health OT – Assists those with mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety, to improve their coping strategies and engage in daily life.
  • Paediatric OT – Specialises in working with children, helping them with developmental delays, sensory processing disorders, or physical challenges.
  • Older Adults OT – Focuses on older adults, supporting them with age-related conditions, mobility, falls prevention, and independent living.
  • Neurological OT – Works with individuals who have experienced brain injuries, strokes, or neurological conditions like Parkinson’s or multiple sclerosis.
  • Hand Therapy OT – Specialises in the rehabilitation of hand and upper limb injuries or conditions, restoring function and dexterity.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation OT – Helps individuals return to work or adjust to new work environments after injury or illness.

These specialisations allow OTs to address specific needs and improve their patients’ overall quality of life. At Rehab Physio London, we ensure that you are matched with the OT specialist best suited to your specific condition. Whether you need support with physical rehabilitation, neurological recovery, or paediatric care, our team provides tailored, expert-driven therapy to help you achieve your goals.

Speech and language therapists
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) play an integral role in the multidisciplinary team, assisting individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties, which are often essential in neurological rehabilitation. At Rehab Physio London, our SLTs specialise in various areas, including:

  • Neurological SLTs – Support individuals with conditions like stroke, brain injury, or Parkinson’s disease, improving speech, language, and swallowing functions.
  • Paediatric SLTs – Work with children facing communication challenges.
  • Voice Therapy SLTs – Address voice disorders from injury or strain.
  • Dysphagia SLTs – Specialise in managing swallowing disorders.

Our SLTs collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, home-based therapy for optimal recovery.

Clinical Exercise Trainers

Specialise in designing and implementing exercise programmes tailored to individual rehabilitation needs. Working closely within our rehab team, they carry out exercises prescribed by physiotherapists to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Clinical exercise trainers progress you through the programme by providing ongoing exercise prescription and adaptations, all while collaborating with the rest of the rehab team.

This integrated approach ensures that every aspect of your rehabilitation is addressed, allowing the team to focus on achieving your overall recovery goals. Their expertise helps bridge the gap between clinical treatment and physical rehabilitation.

Music Therapists

Music Therapists use music as a therapeutic tool to support emotional, cognitive, and physical rehabilitation. As an integral part of the rehab team at Rehab Physio London, music therapists collaborate with various disciplines to enhance recovery.

For instance, they work alongside physiotherapists to aid gait rehabilitation through rhythm and music and partner with occupational therapists to improve arm function, using musical instruments to enhance dexterity and coordination.

They also collaborate with speech and language therapists on communication, helping patients regain speech through musical interventions. This multidisciplinary approach ensures holistic, creative support during rehabilitation.

Psychologists

Psychologists offer crucial support for mental health and emotional well-being, which are essential components of a holistic recovery process.

Our team includes both clinical psychologists, who address a wide range of emotional and psychological issues, and neuropsychologists, who specialise in understanding the relationship between brain function and behaviour, particularly in the context of neurological conditions.

Rehab dieticians

Rehab dietitians work closely with the rest of the team, to ensure that your nutritional requirements for rehabilitation are met. They assess individual needs and create tailored meal plans that support recovery and overall health. This collaborative approach helps to optimise your rehabilitation journey and promotes holistic well-being.
